We really like Eurovision in Ireland, but we are disappointed that we can't seem to do well in it anymore :( it's sad cos we have won more than any other country and we did so well in the 90's, but we don't seem to be able to produce a good song for it anymore :( and if we get into the final we always come last now or near the bottom :(

You did have some good songs in your Ireland pre-selection, but dustin won so....weirdface

We all knew Dustin would win the pre selection, there was so much hype about him entering and he's very popular here so it was nearly pointless even having one xD there was one other song I liked though but it wasn't a winner really.
At the time I didn't know whether I wanted him to go for us or not, cos we had taken it seriously for years and got nowhere, so I thought maybe entering something silly might be the change we need...but it clearly wasnt haha!

I dunno, we just seem to have lost the knack of writing good songs o.O :(

There was so much excitement about him here!
You just never know, sometimes the silly acts do reeally well (Ukraine) sometimes they fail miserably (us) shrug.gif

haha! in all fairness it would be a bit of a mockery of the Eurovision if he won, I still wanted him to though xD but I much prefer the proper Eurovision entry, a good song with a good voice, like Dima's entry ^_^

I think Ireland have had some good balads in the last few years.

Aaw thanks Nadia :) if only Europe had the same taste as you.. then Dima would have won and Ireland would have gotten somewhere half decent xD

I don't think Dustin should have gotten to the final because it was a bit of a joke but there have been some good ballads which should have done a bit better for ireland.

Oh Dustin's such a laugh xD
During the final he was talking to our commentator Marty Whelan between some songs and he was like "I don't know when I'm on yet, I think I'm on towards the end" presuming he was in the final xD and our commentator was trying to cut in going "erm.. Dustin.. listen!" and Dustin was like "Oh I see, Iceland, there we are! that's obviously a typos.... oh wait here I am- Turkey!" xDDD

In a press conference someone said to him "I can't believe I'm talking to a dummy" then dustin said "neither can i"
Then he was saying he wants the country Turkey to win so in the newspapers everyone would say TURKEY IS THE WINNER!!
