RE: Would you like to go in belarus?

That's right, I really don't know what to do there. It doesn't sound interesting at all to me. Russia, that would be great!

Actually Belarus is no tourist country, the hotels are expensive and some are not even very good. Same with Moscow. Actually St. Petersburg is even more worth to visit than Moscow. If you ask me I would just go to the Krim in the Ukraine, lol, or Sochi or Novorossisk...something at the sea...

It will, i've seen lots of reports on esctoday and all they say is how it's expensive and you can't get cheap hotels and food is also expensive. But i'm sure it'll be cheaper if you just eat in little cafes all the time, even in expensive cities like london you can find cheap places to eat and stay.

My country and Belarus is near each other. Earlier Lithuania was bigger and Belarus' area belonged to it. So now there are some historical places which are about my country's history but are in Belarus' area. I would like to see them. But nowadays it's so hard to go to Belarus from my country...:(

Actually, my dad just came back from Belarus and he sais that it is very expensive because there are a lot of imports from germany. However, if you go to the bazaar, you would be sure to find some cheap treasures. My father also said that it is very beautiful and modern, but a lot of teens there smoke and drink.

Oh, completely forgot to mention the RADIATION. Chernobyl, the nuclear explosion that dima is always talking/joking about, has become a very serious problem there.

He is correct. But what does that have to do with the former soviet union? I am just trying to understand what you mean.

I mean that they were under control of the soviet union and there wasn't much freedom so they are different as a country to other countries that have always had lots more freedom.

I second what you said, ybet! :) I would absolutely love to go to Russia. My college does trips to Russia every few years for the students of that language (there are also trips to mexico, france, and so on). I'm hoping to go next time. That would be so awesome!!
I never thought of buying cds while there, that's a great idea. They would be a lot more likely to be found there. :)

Well actually the fall of soviet russia was in 1991 so it's only been about 16 years and countries like belarus weren't independant for a little while after that.

Correct. Nearly 20 IS 16 years. Nevertheless, many people in Belarus have become wealthy as a result of the oil prices, just like in Russia. Like in any country, there are poor people and there are rich people. The biggest problem for Belarus to date is the effect of the radiation. I was born in Belarus, by the way.
